Central Library Facility

The Central Library, Tinsukia College established in the year 1956, currently covering approximately an area of14000 sq.ft. Now it has more than 54,673 collections of books including both text books and references which are stacked in different sections of the library. The library is now well-connected Internet facility through Wi-Fi. The library is updated with ICT. There are separate reading rooms for the teachers and students. Library is open from 09:00 AM to 4:00 PM in all working days. There is a conference hall with all modern amenities and a computer centre located at the central library. The library currently subscribes 10 journals of National and International repute in various subject areas covering Arts, Commerce and Science disciplines. Further, the library has a book bank having almost 3000 books of different subjects is a great support for the poor and needy students. The library has Xerox facility for both teachers and students on payment basis.Students can download earlier Question Paper from the library website.

The library is partially automated and uses the SOUL 3.0 software. The entire library collection is computer-catalogued and searchable through OPAC. Users can search a book via author, title, keyword, accession number, subject, class number, ISBN, publisher, year of publication, etc. There is barcode based attendance system for both students and staffs.

The library has a collection 6,000+ e journals and 1, 95,811+ e-books (accessible through INFLIBNET-NLIST) for research and teaching purpose and also club member of NDLI that can access 6,00,000 E-books through NDLI. Additionally, the college library has subscribed to ONOS, an initiative providing access to journals, e-books and research resources across India. All faculty and students are encouraged to use ONOS for their research and study needs.

  • Bags and belongings kept in property counter.
  • Membership card scan needed for entry.
  • Silence inside premises.
  • Show library card when borrowing books.
  • Responsible for damage/loss.
  • Report lost card immediately.
  • No food inside.
  • Uniform required.
  • Return books 2 weeks post exams.

Membership Rules

  • Library cards required.
  • Students: max 2 books for 14 days; Faculty: 15 books for 90 days.
  • Report damage when borrowing.
  • Compensation for lost books.
  • Penalty: Rs. 1/day beyond limit.
  • Admission receipt + photo for membership.
  • Clearance certificate upon completion/retirement.
